Elliston Cemetery
Elliston, Powell County, Montana, USA
The Senecals were a young pioneer couple who years before had left their native state New York and headed west to Montana finally settling in Elliston. They owned land throughout the area including a parcel just west of town. It is said by the family that one day Delia realized Elliston needed a cemetery and with Delia's encouragement Felix and Delia provided the land. Sadly Delia was the first burial in this new cemetery. Felix was buried beside Delia on November 10, 1931 having passed away on November 7th.
Directions: When entering Elliston from the East on Hwy 12 you will see three local businesses on your left side. First is a small-town bar which also serves food, a gas station convenience for traveling needs and then the U.S. Federal post office. Directly across from these buildings is a right turn off Hwy 12. Taking this road you will immediately cross the railroad tracks coming to a "T" in the road. From this stop sign looking left you can see the road forms a "Y". If you stay on the left you will come to a dead end in about 2 blocks. If you take a gentle right, you will travel less than a mile to the cemetery. The road winds beside the Little Blackfoot River and about half way to the cemetery you reach an old stone bridge crossing the Little Blackfoot River. The cemetery is just down the road.
