Bnei Ayish is a local council in the center of the country, which is located a little south of Gedera. The settlement began as an outpost in the 1950s. Towards the 1960s, Bnei Ayish was established as a full-fledged settlement. About 20 years later, Bnei Ayish was recognized as a local council. Since its establishment, and up to the present day, Bnei Ayish has been a Zionist settlement and receives Aliyah. Bnei Ayish began its journey as a settlement that took in many immigrants from Arab countries. Then, with the beginning of the 1990s, new immigrants who came to Israel from the former Soviet Union were also absorbed in the settlement. Today, the population in Bnei Ayish is a heterogeneous population and they live in the settlement Seculars next to religious people and natives of the country next to new immigrants. The charming mix of "Gathering of Israel" has turned Bnei Ayish into a place that is known for its colorful and unique community. Most of the local residents are secular and the religious population makes up about 20% of the local community. Indeed, Bnei Ayish defines itself as a charming meeting point between East and West. Although the residents seemingly come from different cultures, the Bnei Ayish community lives in a symbiosis that combines values such as "all Israel are Arabs to each other" with social justice. This is undoubtedly a living and flourishing example of the success of the Zionist enterprise. The children in Bnei Ayish are an integral part from the community and their rate among the population is particularly high. Therefore, they benefit from a long line of excellent educational institutions and non-formal frameworks that enrich their world even outside of the standard school hours. For their part, the parents benefit from the settlement's proximity to the important employment centers in the area and the ease of transportation that allows them to easily reach the center and the south.
