Before the Civil War there was a horse gin operated by William Ross one mile from Cunnahoma Church.
A Union meeting place was made of the schoolhouse and was used for worship by both Baptists and Methodists. In 1939 there was no organized church at Cunnahoma, although the cemetery, which was located at the old school, is still in use by descendants of the early settlers.
