Location Information: Borgo Val di Taro is a town of 7,000 inhabitants in the far west Province of Parma. It lies about 20 minutes from the A15 Autostrada half-way between La Spezia and Parma, or for the more adventurous can be accessed across the mountains east of Genoa on the main road from Chiavari (down the coast from Genoa) to Bedonia and Berceto. This road is very hilly and winding, and the town is about 66 kilometres (42 miles) from Chiavari. The cemetery is located on the south side of the Taro River on Viale Cimitero past Chiesa di San Rocco. The cemetery is on multiple levels, its central attraction being a large memorial crypt, the final resting place of dozens of fallen local soldiers from the "Prima Brigata Julia", a brigade of partigiani who liberated the area from German occupation in 1944. The cemetery also contains the grave of a British soldier from the Second World War.
