Established in 1884. Originally a Presbyterian church cemetery.
The cemetery is divided into East and West sections by a road. The rows run east-west.
Includes a cairn (west end of Row 1 East Section) erected by the Clearspings Cemetery Committee which reads:
"Clearsprings cemetery established 1884. Dedicated to all those pioneers who with hardship & toil began in 1870 to settle in the Clearspings and Giroux districts. The log Presbyterian church built in 1879 just to the north of this cemetery was their source of strength and guidance. May their memory inspire future generations."

This cemetery in the Rural Municipality of Hanover was opened in 1884, south of a Presbyterian church built in 1879, by Anglo-Saxon settlers who preceded only by aboriginals and the Métis, arrived in this area before the Mennonite East Reserve was established in 1874. Engraved stones in the cemetery commemorate the Clearsprings Presbyterian Church (1893-1925), Clearsprings United Church (1925-1967), two Clearsprings schools, and local war veterans.

A part of the story of the town and its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1982 is told in the volume "Reflections on our Heritage - A History of Steinbach and the RM of Hanover from 1874", especially starting on page 311. More of their stories are told in the related volume "Hanover - 100 Years", especially starting on page 29.
Free digital versions of these and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society, as transcribed by a member or members in 1989 and updated in 2000. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the MGS Manitoba Name Index (or MANI).
