Township: NE ¼ 31-13-33 W1
Locality: Martin RM # 122
Municipality: South East
Province: SK
Completed in 1901, blessed by Archbishop Langevan of St. Boniface on Oct. 27/1901. A plaque on one of the fieldstone pillars reads St. Andrews cemetery 1883 to 1967 In Memory of the Scottish Pioneers from the Benbecula and South Uist of Western Scotland. The tall steeple of St. Andrews Church stands as a landmark eight miles south of Wapella. There are between 40 and 50 beautiful paintings on the ceiling of the church. The bell which is still rung, was the largest in the North West Territories and weighed 1640 lbs. The first person to ring the bell was Mrs. Dring (though not a Roman Catholic), a respected senior citizen of the district who with her sons had homesteaded south of Pipestone in 1882.
