Add PhotosFrom the records of Elizabeth Booth: "There are six known graves at this site in the southeast quadrant of the county not specifically located but said to be on the Joseph Abraham Skidmore farm known as Skidmore's Prairie." The oldest burial is documented as being that of Joseph Franklin Skidmore who died 19 Sep 1836. At this time it is not known when Abraham Skidmore first obtained land as this burial date precedes much of the recorded history of the county.
Also found in the Daughters of the American Revolution Cemetery Collection complied in 1940, parts of which were donated by the Joseph Ligon Chapter of Paris and copied by Sallie Lee Lightfoot of Paris. The book was located in the Corsicana Genealogical Library,Corsicana, TX., and copied by Betsy Mills and Elizabeth House. The following was written, "Located on the farm of R. M. Robinson about 3 miles south of Biardstown, on what was then his home, are the graves of Abraham Skidmore and his wife Celia Thompson Skidmore. There are no inscriptions now, but a Bible record has been copied."
The following persons are known to be buried here: Celia Thompson Skidmore 27 Jun 1804 - 18 Oct 1847, Emeline Thompson Skidmore 1818 - Death Not Known, Joseph Abraham Skidmore 3 May 1797 - 15 Jun 1861, Joseph Franklin Skidmore 13 Jul 1834 - 19 Sep 1836, Nancy America Skidmore Smith 10 May 1841 - Death not known [Nancy America Skidmore Smith is actually buried in Antioch Cemetery beside her second husband, R. O. Smith, as evidenced by a grave marker in that cemetery], and Mary Eliza Skidmore Winsett 7 Aug 1846 - Death not known.
