In 1952, the decision was made to deconsecrate the cemetery and release it for development. Since the duration of the occupancy had not yet expired for all burial sites, 27 reburials had to be made to the main cemetery on Linden Street (Hauptfriedhof, Lindener Straße). Other bones still found from funerals before 1922 were buried at the chapel of the small St. Johannis Cemetery on Frankfurter Straße. There is a plaque there reading:

Here rest our dead from the cemetery Grauhofstraße,
Died in 1885-1922,
Rebedded on May 15, 1953.
