My Father Harold Thatcher Kinder was born in the small rural town of Illmo Missouri on June 11, 1929. He was the only child born to James Herbert Kinder and Flossie Delina Davis. His parent's separated and divorced when he was very young..he never knew his father.

He was raised in the house with his grandparents..his grandfather being a father figure to him..his grandfather passed away when Dad was 7 years old. He did not have an easy childood there were lots of hard times and hard work to make ends meet.

When Dad finished school he moved to St Louis Missouri where he worked at the Nabisco Factory and even owned and operated a cafe for awhile.. in 1948 at the age of 18 he decided to Join the U.S. Army...he had finally found his purpose and place in life he loved the military . He got to see the world he served in Japan and France.. and fought for his country in the Korean war. His other duty assignments were stateside in Washingto, New Jersey , Texas , Arizona and Alabama..He retired in 1974 after serving 26 years.

He married my mother in Nov 1954 and they started a family soon after. My father was a no nonsense type of guy he was firm and us kids had the upmost respect for him. He never raised his voice at us ..we just knew when he spoke he meant what he said and ..we didnt cross the line. At the same time he was loving and fair and would do special things for his children to let us know how special we were to him. He was a good teacher and had patience ...I remember him taking me out when I was learniing to drive he remained cool and calm when I took turns to wide and ran over the curb..

I miss his laugh and the many talks we had.. On Dec 31 1988 Dad lost his long battle with cancer he was only 59 years old.. I love you Dad and miss you everyday!!!
