John Thomas "Tom" Neese was one of 10 children born to Davis and Margaret (Neese) Neese of South Carolina. He married Martha Keeley on 29 Aug 1863 in Alabama. Tom and Martha were the parents of Julius M. Neese, John Peter Neese, and William Davis Neese. Tom also had a daughter and a son before his marriage to Martha. The names of the mother and the daughter remain unknown, but the son was Emmitt Edward Neese (1863-1925).
