St. Bernard's Cemetery, incorporated in 1865, was founded as the cemetery for Concord's Catholic community two years after the former Universalist Church at the foot of Bedford Street had been purchased for their permanent religious home. An important factor to the parishioners was that the selectmen had granted permission to found the cemetery in time to bury some of their Civil War dead in consecrated soil.

Archbishop Sean O`Malley closed Our Lady Help of Christians Parish on October 25, 2004 as part of the reconfiguration of the Archdiocese of Boston. St. Bernard Parish in Concord was also closed and a new parish, Holy Family Parish, has been established at the site of St. Bernard Church.

The cemetery sits on 23 acres. The earliest death date is 1865. In 1991 there were approximately 2,500 headstones. The cemetery is still in use so its likely that number is higher now.

The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as CON.803 Saint Bernard's Cemetery.
