It is a small rural church with an immaculate small cemetery located in back. All burials no matter the age are located together in one section. It is located on The Stump Church road in North Cambridge, NY.
An "Historical Sketch of the North Cambridge or Stump Methodist Church," was written by Byron M. Herrington. In 1838 a petition was circulated in the North Cambridge area to raise funds for the construction of the church building. Money was raised to erect a meeting house and securing a burial ground. The burying ground was to be a public "burying place of the dead."
Names of the church subscribers included: Peter Hill, the Green family, the Whiteside family, and Ebenezer McLean. The list also contains other families who remained active in the church. Among these were the families of Waters, Brownell, James English, Thomas, Kenyon, Ingraham, and Herrington. The names of other contributing families, who were no longer in the area or connected with the church were Skinner, Hillman, Phelps, Austin, Anthony, Wood, Whelden, Weir, Darrow, Wilson, Stewart, Hall, Mayhew, Rathbun, Weaver, Warner, Stover, Sherman (Sherman ?), Dillingham, Banker, and Carpenter. According to the sketch, by Herrington, many of the early contributors were buried in the churchyard at the rear of the church.
In 1916, the cemetery of the church was incorporated as the North Cambridge Cemetery Association. The association received a deed to the cemetery from the church trustees and is a separate organization.
