The park-like grounds provide for lawn burials and include a columbarium as well as a War Memorial.

The town of Swan River is the administrative centre for the Rural Municipality of Swan Valley which surrounds it.
A part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 2000 is told in the volume "A Centennial Chronicle, Historic Happenings in the Swan River Valley" and in a simlar volumes entitled "Between the Hills - Life in the Swan River Valley 1787 - 1958"and "100 Years in the Swan River Valley".
Free digital versions of these and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
