Cemetery notes and/or description: The old Burying Ground dates back to the building of the first meeting house on this site around 1698. It was customary at this date to bury the dead in the ground immediately surrounding the meeting house. Many of Framinghams notable citizens of the early 18th century are buried here, including Peter Salem, a negro slave who is reputed to have shot Prescott at Bunker Hill.
According to MACRIS the earliest death date is 1704.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as FRM.800.
This cemetery is referred to as GR1 Church Hill Cemetery in the "Vital Records of Framingham Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849."
