|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
In 1774, this burying ground was given to the town by Dr. John Betty. However, the oldest graves are of the wife and two children of Dr. Jonas Marshall of South Chelmsford who died in December 1776 of smallpox contracted from a passing soldier who spent the night at his home.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as CLM.801 Heart Pont Cemetery.
This cemetery is referred to as GR2 Hart Pond Cemetery in the "Vital Records of Chelmsford Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849."
