The cemetery consists of an old section, filled with family plots and old monuments amid tree lined lanes. There are three family vaults and many old statues and large monuments commemorating the families of the area.
The oldest burials are found in Section A, the Shingler's, and the Sayre's are found there. Young John Shingler was the first burial in the cemetery in 1835, his grandfather, Nathan Sayre, a Soldier of the Revolutionary War, followed John to the grave in 1841.
The newer part of the cemetery holds a mausoleum which was built in the 1930's. The mausoleum is governed by a separate association.
The 26 acres of the cemetery is the final resting place for over 9,000 people, with room for 6,000 more.
