The park is located at the end of Milalak Drive, just off of Marine Corps Drive, Route 1, in Yigo, Guam.
The park is dedicated to those Japanese and Americans who paid the ultimate price in what became the final World War II battle on Guam.
The park is the site of Lt. Gen. Hideyoshi Obata's last command post on Guam at Mataguac Hill.
There are several caves where the Japanese holed up and hid out.
At the east base of the hill, an imposing concrete memorial tower, which evokes hands clasped in prayer, dominates the scene.
The small Queen of Peace Chapel doubles as a sort-of museum, and is located next to a residence for a custodian.
Japanese pilgrims continue to erect small monuments, cenotaph memorials, shrines, and prayer sticks in the vicinity of the main memorial.
