Stained glass windows either side of the pulpit were erected by the Rev. Walter Little of Orwell Parish and are inscribed –
"To the glory of God and in memory of his wife who died 11th June 1874." and
"To the glory of God and in memory of his sister-in-law who died at Tillyrie 24th Feb 1873."
The present church combines the remainder of three local congregations – The Old Kirk, The Secession Church begun in 1773, and the Free Church 1843 – 1929. Research of the records for those commemorated on the gravestones can be complicated by these splinters. In 1929, the three churches were reconciled into a union and the New Church of Scotland. The previously separate parishes of Orwell and Portmoak became a single parish in 2006.
The graveyard consists of a walled enclosure surrounding the Church. It contains a number of interesting gravestones, some of which date back to the period of construction of the church. There is an adjoining extension, more modern, located to the East of the graveyard - another walled enclosure, accessed by a separate gate. This is still in use, although nearly full to capacity.
