Marietta Campground Cemetery is today affiliated with, and located adjacent to, the East Cobb United Methodist Church, which is the modern version of the church that eventually sprang up nearby after the revivalist campground was established across the road as a regional summer meeting place for religious revivals in the 1800's (today the Campground is located directly across Roswell Road/Highway 120 from the Cemetery).
The Georgia Room at the Central Branch of the Cobb County Public Library in downtown Marietta holds a three-volume guide to the cemeteries of Cobb County, which (supposedly) lists all burials in the county, and Marietta Campground Cemetery is included in Volume I.
The campground was founded in 1837 and the first church building, Lebanon, bought from the Presbyterians at Sandy Plains, was re-christened New Lebanon about 1879. In 1948, the name was changed to Campground, and in 1986 was again changed to East Cobb United Methodist Church. The cemetery is protected by the Marietta Campground Cemetery Perpetual Care Association, Inc."
