At the turn of the 1900s, there were two cemeteries established in Nenana, one south for "white" settlers and one north for Natives. Today, both cemeteries are integrated and used equally for burials.
Directions to the Cemetery:
The South Cemetery is located about one mile south of town. Drive south on AK Route 3 until you see the sign for the airfield (indicating a left turn to go to the airfield), go 1/4 mile further on AK Route 3 until you reach the second dirt road on the right, and turn onto this road. Travel 3/4 mile on the gravel road, crossing a single railroad track, until you reach the cemetery in a cope of woods. There is no gate or fence around the cemetery - just graves clustered together with the gravel road making a circle. There is a small flagpole on the left branch (south side) of the circle.
