Since 1868, St. Charles Cemetery has stood on the banks of the Assiniboine River. St. Charles Parish provides perpetual care for the cemetery. The cemetery offers peaceful surroundings for the final resting place of a loved one and for family and friends to visit. It is well-maintained with mature trees and many colourful flowers in the summer. A spiritual gathering place, behind the church, comes alive on the last Sunday of June, where the parishoners celebrate Mass in the cemetery followed by a picnic on the banks of the Assiniboine River.

A part of the area's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 2002 is told in the volume "Photos & Fragments of Charleswood History - A Collection of Hisoric Photographs of Our Community and the Stories They Tell", especially starting on page 66. A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #0119), transcribed by a member or members in 1984 and updated in 1998. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI). Some additional information is contained in the 1996 MGS publication "Carved in Stone: Manitoba Cemeteries and Burial Sites"(revised edition, Special Projects Publication, 106 pages).
