The three-acre or so plot is well-tended and laced with various plants, flowers and vegetation. A concrete path cuts through the center of the cemetery and leads up to a large crucifix. A gaze to each side of the path reveals dozens of precisely placed headstones — all similarly sized and constructed with the same granite stone — etched with uniform typing of SSND sisters dating back to 1872. The cemetery officially opened 1914, two years after the convent opened, but the bodies of some SSND sisters who died before its construction were transported there later. Since 1914, only about 30 SSND Mankato satellite sisters aren't buried at the site,
