Waiblingen is a medium sized city (50,000 inhabitants) not far from the metropolitan Stuttgart area. It is the capital of the Rems-Murr district. It received its town charter in 1250. The former independent villages of Beinstein, Bittenfeld, Hegnach, Hohenacker and Neustadt were incorporated into Waiblingen in the early 1970's. The largest cemetery in Waiblingen is owned and managed by the city and non-denominational. It contains many old historic grave markers, as well as a war grave section with graves of military and civilian dead of World War I and II.
Other cemeteries in Waiblingen are.
► Friedhof Bittenfeld
► Friedhof Waiblingen
► Friedhof Beinstein
► Alter Friedhof Beinstein
► Friedhof Hegnach
► Alter Friedhof Hegnach/Langwies
► Friedhof Hohenacker
► Friedhof Neustadt
► Alter Friedhof Neustadt
Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (for the city of Waiblingen its 10-20 years) the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse have decomposed naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period the duration can be extended by another 10 years. War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever.
