HISTORY:
The Greentown Cemetery Association was organized during the year 1885. The Cemetery Association established a constitution, elected officers, purchased land and prepared for the sale of shares.
The original tract of land was purchased from Louis Wise and Jonas Garhart. The officers elected at the 1885 meeting were L.E. Smith, president; John Lilly, secretary and O.P. Shanafelt , treasurer. Henry Shanafelt, D.M. Kaylor and Leonard Raber were elected trustees.
The cemetery was more than doubled in 1925 with the purchase of five acres from Anthony Eaver and more recently another parcel from Dale and Iris Anderson was added. Buildings were added to house equipment.
The Greentown Cemetery operates as a nonprofit organization.
