Thomas Caldean Stoner enlisted, at the age of eighteen, in the Confederate Army on May 7, 1862 at Whiteside, Tennessee. He served three years in Company A of the 3rd Confederate Calvary at Running Water, Tennessee, and advanced from the rank of private to sergeant. (He is listed as C.D.Stoner, which is probably an abbreviation for Caldean.)
After returning to Alabama, he moved with his family to the Bellfonte area of Jackson County, Alabama. He is listed in the Census of Jackson County for the year 1870 as being as a brakeman on the railroad. He married Eliza Hall on January 30, 1875 in Bellfonte, Alabama. They had two daughters, Ellen May and Bessie "Bess".

Reported as buried here by Curtis Stoner. There is a Confederate veteran marker for JC Stover, but not for TC Stoner.
