Actor, Game Show Host. Edwards, who attended Duke University, worked regularly as an actor in the 1960s. He appeared as a late-night movie host in the Dick Van Dyke film 'The Comic' (1969), and appeared with Paul Newman in 'WUSA' (1970). On television he acted on such shows as 'Petticoat Junction', 'I Dream of Jeannie' and 'That Girl'. He got his start in the TV game show business on 'Lucky Partners', a Los Angeles game show produced by Bob Barker. His first national effort, 'Hollywood's Talking' only lasted 13 weeks, but in 1973, it led producer Chuck Barris to cast him as the host of the syndicated game show 'The New Treasure Hunt'. Later, he went on to host 'Jackpot!' and 'Shoot for the Stars', which was the last NBC daytime game show taped in New York. He was a regular guest on 'The $20,000 Pyramid' and 'The Love Experts' and hosted 'Chain Reaction', 'Play the Percentages' another version of 'Treasure Hunt' and 'Starcade'. Later in his career, he emceed the California state lottery's official game show, 'The Big Spin' and worked on local radio in the Palm Springs area. Edwards died of complications from pneumonia.
