Author. She was the author of the popular series of "Bloodhound" books, featuring bloodhound breeder/trainer/handler Jo Beth Siddens. Lanier came to writing as a career late in life; she was 65 years old when her first book was published. That book, 'Death in Bloodhound Red', won the Anthony award for Best First Mystery Novel in 1995. Her final novel, "A Bloodhound To Die For", was published shortly before her death. According to her official website, she was cremated without any services, in observance of her wishes.
