Writer and Journalist. Born in Florence and lived for a long time in the United States of America, Oriana Fallaci is considered the greatest Italian journalist ever and one of the most popular Italian writers of the twentieth century. Her existence passed under the banner of the combination of writing and civil commitment. At the age of 14, she took part in the partisan Resistance militating in the Giustizia e Libertà group, maturing within herself that desire to be "on the front line" which later prompted her to tell closely about the main war theaters of the twentieth century. Her activity from the front, starting from 1967 with the war in Vietnam, gave birth to the figure of the special correspondent, at that time unknown to the Italian journalistic scene. Her tenacity and indomitable character allowed her to carve out a leading role in a profession that until then was the prerogative of the male world. The seventies saw her come face to face with the "greats" of the Earth, pressed by her uncomfortable questions, from Golda Meir to Yasser Arafat, from Henry Kissinger to Muammar Gaddafi, up to the historic interview with Imam Khomeini during which she takes off her veil to protest against the condition of women in Islamic regimes. At the same time she cultivated in those years her first love, literature. From the travel reports such as "Niente e così sia" (1969) and "Intervista con la storia" (1974) to the two autobiographical masterpieces "Lettera a un bambino mai nato" (1975) and "Un Uomo" (1979). Her books have had sales of twenty million copies worldwide. Affected by cancer, she left the USA to live the last days in her beloved Florence.
