US Congressman. Born in Bedminster, New Jersey, he moved to Argyle, New York in the 1790s and served as Justice of the Peace there from 1806 to 1811. He later moved to Essex, New York, where he was a large landowner, farmer, merchant, and mill owner. Whallon served as captain and major in the New York State Militia 1803-1814, which included active duty in the War of 1812. He was a member of the State assembly from 1808 to 1812, served as Supervisor of the town of Essex twice (1818 to 1819 and 1827 to 1828), and was First Judge of Essex County Court of Common Pleas from 1831 to 1838. Whallon was elected to the 23rd Congress and served from 1833 to 1835. He died at his Essex farm.
