Anne E. Crocker, 81, was the first visiting nurse in Foxboro, 1929-1936


FOXBORO - Anne E. (Power) Harnden Crocker, 81, of Foxboro, a retired registered nurse who was the first visiting nurse in Foxboro, died Friday at home.


Mrs. Crocker was Foxboro's visiting nurse from 1929 to 1936. She also served as the assistant supervisor at the state-run Walnut Lodge in Foxboro for several years.

Although Mrs. Crocker retired from nursing around age 65, she continued to dedicate many hours to helping others, serving as a volunteer driver for FISH and Van-Go, organizations which provide transportation for those who cannot drive, until she was 78 years old.

She was born in Welsford, Nova Scotia, and was a graduate of Acadia Ladies Seminary, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and the Corporation Hospital School of Nursing in Lowell. She lived in Foxboro for the past 60 years.


Wife of the late Percival B. Crocker and Russell W. Harnden Sr., she is survived by a son, LIVING; a daughter, LIVING; a sister, Elaine Illsley of Canada; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was the daughter of the late Rufus G. and Ella May (Palmer) Power.


A funeral service will be held at 1 PM tomorrow at Bethany Congregational Church. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery.
