A childhood polio survivor, she left her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center for research. It was later cremated and the ashes returned to her family and scattered in the mountains of Washington State.

MAYFIELD, EVEYLN MARIE

Evelyn Marie Mayfield, 65 of Augusta, died Sunday, January 30, 1994. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Dunsford Funeral Home.

She was born May 8, 1928, in Wichita, to Pearl Brown. In August 1950 she and Paul Mayfield were married. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Larry of Augusta, daughter, Sharon Coots of Lyndon, Wash., brothers, Dick Mauk, Jim Mauk, both of California, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean.
