Wilfred "Boppu" Beaudry, of South Windsor was born December 19, 1917, in St. Perpetue, Quebec, Canada, son of the late Claudia (Robichaud) and Joseph Beaudry, died Friday, (August 31, 2007). He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years Helen "Mimi" (Czelusniak) Beaudry and by his children Claudia and Mike Siniscalchi, and Larry and Pam Beaudry, all of South Windsor. He leaves six beloved grandchildren: Deb and Mike Sgambelluri of Greenwich, New York, Jason and Lynn Siniscalchi of Moosup, and Dan and Elena Beaudry of Boston, MA. He also leaves two delightful great grandchildren, Nina and Julia Sgambelluri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Henry, Ernest, Emile, Adolph, and Alphonse, and by his sisters Delena, Olivine, and Laura. Wilfred served his country during World War II from 1943-1945 as a member of the 298th Combat Engineers Battalion of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant. His outfit saw action from Normandy, France, through to Germany and was engaged in every major battle in the European Theater of Operation. The Company earned five battle stars. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to his job working for Eisenhauer and Chellstop putting in foundations. In 1947, he and his brother Emile started their own construction company, Beaudry Brothers Forms and Concrete. After dissolving the business in 1957, he worked for the First National Bakery in various departments until his retirement in 1981. Wil belonged to the South Windsor Super Sixties Club and the Setback Club and was an avid Yankees and UCONN Huskies fan. He enjoyed traveling, and he and Helen made trips to Europe and the Caribbean, as well as throughout the U.S. and Canada. However, spending time with his family gave him the most pleasure. Despite losing his mother before his first birthday and then his father by age 8, Wilfred nevertheless developed a positive attitude towards life and a wonderful sense of humor and humility that endeared him to all who meet him. Although it is doubtful that he realized it, Wilfred personified the role of husband and father. He was of strong moral character and was always willing to give of himself to make the lives of his loved ones easier. This was never more evident than in the last few days of his life. His passing will leave a void in the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Ellington Road, South Windsor on Monday, October 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 628, Hartford, CT 06103. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, South Windsor has care of arrangements.
