COINS LEFT AT A VETERANS GRAVE OR MEMORIALS These coins have a meaning when left on the headstones or Memorials of those who gave the full measure of their lifes while serving in America’s military, and these meanings vary depending on the denomination of coin. A coin tells the deceased Veteran’s family that someone has visited the grave or Memorial to pay their respect to that Veteran.A penny means that you visited. A nickel that you and the deceased trained at boot camp together, a dime means you served with him, and quarter, means that you were with the Veteran when he Died. I use a coin of the year I visited.

To a Hero

Tread lightly, 'tis a soldiers grave, A lonely mossy mound; And yet to hearts like mine and thine,It should be holy ground. Speak softly, let no careless laugh, Nor idle thoughtless jest, escape your lips where sweetly sleeps this hero in his rest. For him no reveille will beat, When morning beams shall come; For him, at night, no tattoo rolls Its thunders from the drum. Tread lightly! for a man bequeathed, here laid beneath this sod, His ashes to his native land, His gallant soul to God.
