Actor, Radio Announcer. He is best known for his role as 'Brent', one of the Tarleton twins, in classic motion picture "Gone with the Wind". His character spoke the first line in the movie, provoking a signature response by 'Scarlett': "Fiddle-dee-dee." He was only present at the movie audition because he was accompanying his cousin. The casting director noticed his Southern accent and gave him the part, which paid $50 per week. Crane's subsequent acting career, while not extensive, did include a role in 1949's "The Gay Amigo" and some television work in the 1960s. His longest tenure in the entertainment industry was as a Los Angeles radio host at classical music station KFAC, which lasted 40 years. Married five times and the father of four children, in his later years Crane and his wife ran a bed-and-breakfast inn in Barnesville, Georgia, named "Tarleton Oaks." Although he did not attend the 1939 premiere of "Gone with the Wind," he did attend the premiere of the 1998 restored version of the film.
