MRS. THOS. H. STARRETT IS CLAIMED BY DEATH
News of the sudden death of Mrs. Annie Dorcas Broward Starrett, wife of Capt. Thomas H. Starrett, which occurred at 1:30 o'clock yesterday morning in the home of her mother, Mrs. Napoleon B. Broward, 1005 East Church street, came as a shock to the many friends of the beloved young woman.
Mrs. Starrett is the daughter of Mrs. Broward and the late Napoleon B. Broward, former governor of Florida, and numbered her friends by her acquaintances.
She was a native of Florida, growing to womanhood in Jacksonville where she spent the greater part of her life, with the exception of the few years spent in Tallahassee during the term of office of her father as governor. She possessed a brilliant mentality, was a graduate of the college of liberal arts, of the Florida State College for Women, and later received her law degree from Stetson university being admitted to the Florida bar at the age of 21 years. She was a charter member of the Tallahassee chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, now Tridelta.
After returning from college she was active in church work. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church.
Mrs. Starrett by her lovely traits of character, and her sunny disposition made many friends, who mourn with her family her death.
Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by her mother, Mrs. Napoleon B. Broward, seven sisters, Mrs. F. Carlton Beckley, of Jacksonville; Mrs. A. M. Dumas, of Lowell, Mass.; Mrs. L. A. Hardee, Jr., of Seattle, Wash.; Miss Ella Broward, Columbia university, New York; Miss Agnes Broward of Simmons college, Boston; Miss Florida Broward, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and Miss Elizabeth Broward, of this city; a brother, Napoleon B. Broward, Jr., of this city; and uncle, Capt. Montealm Broward, and three aunts, Miss Hortense Broward, Miss Elsie Douglass, of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Harry Fozzard.
