The best home run call was yours: "And that ball is going, going, GONE!!!! As a frustrated Brooklyn fan, I still loved listening to you Mel, and thanks for signing my scorecard that summer day in 1961!

I grew up on the East coast and the Yankees were my team--There was one man who made that team alive and real; Mel Allen. You could see the game, even before TV, because of his ability to bring it to life. Remembered vividly.

You passed 6/16/1996. Now it's 17 years you've been calling baseball games on the other side. I'm sure all the Yankees that have passed are glad to hear "How about that!" and that it brings back good memories of life on this side.

I will forever miss "This Week in Baseball" on the Jumbo-tron at the Oakland-Alameda County Colosseum. I saw hundreds of games there, and before the internet, you were our font of information. Thank you so much Mel! How about that!!!
