HRH The Princess (Victoria Alexandra Alice )Mary ,The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom was born on 25 April 1897 at York Cottage, Sandringham, Norfolk.She was the only daughter of King Emperor George V .She married Henry George Charles Lascelles, 6th Earl of Harewood, son of Henry Ulick Lascelles, 5th Earl of Harewood and Lady Florence Katharine Bridgeman, on 28 February 1922 at Westminster Abbey.She died on 28 March 1965 at Harewood House, Leeds, Yorkshire, West Riding.
Princess Mary was created 6th The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom on 1 January 1932.In 1926 appointed Dame Grand Cross of Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.) and 1927 Dame Grand Cross of the British Empire ( GBE) : Colonel-in-Chief, of the Royal Corps of Signals.1939: Chief Controller and later Controller Commandant, of the Auxiliary Territorial Service 1950: Air Chief Commandant, of Princess Mary's Royal Air Force Nursing Service .
