Served in the CCC in 1936-37, joined the 2nd Bn./105th Inf., NYNG in 1938 as a Private. By 1960 he commanded the Battalion as a Lieutenant Colonel. Married Gertrude Florence Daly (q.v.) on July 15, 1941 remaining her faithful husband and friend until his death. After graduating from Infantry OCS in 1942, he was assigned to the 78th "Lightning" Division at Camp Butner, NC. He deployed overseas with the division to the ETO,assigned to the First Army. He saw action as Commander of the Machinegun Platoon, 3rd Bn./311th Inf Regt and Company Commander of "L" Company, 3/311. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star w/ "V" device and 1 OLC, Army Commendation Medal w/ "V" device, The Combat Infantryman's Badge and 2 PUCs. Participated in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. Worked 35 years for the General Electric Company. Died of Bladder Cancer.
