Medical Scholar. Hamada Gentatsu was a Japanese medical scientist, specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, during the Meiji era and Taisho era. He also was professor of Medicine and Director at Tokyo Imperial Univerity's School of Medicine. Since 1896 (Meiji 26) he has been the president of the Medical College. He retired in 1900 and founded the Tokyo Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital (later renamed Hamada Hospital), and became the director. In 1903 he became a professor of the Imperial Household Ministry, and in 1914 he received the title of Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo.
