Actor. The son of Azalee McAdams and Maurice Harrison, his family moved to Plainview, Texas, where as a boy, he became a successful rodeo rider. He would later claim to have traveled to South America in 1940 and won the All Around Champion Cowboy of South America in 1941 and 1942. In 1943, he made his film debut under the name of Michael Harrison in 'Stage Door Canteen.' He then earned a bit part in 'Janie' (1944), before auditioning for Republic Pictures , earning a contract there. After changing his name to Sunset Carson, he appeared in such features as, ' Call of the Rockies,' 'Bordertown Trail,' 'Code of the Prairie,' and 'Firebrands of Arizona' in 1944. 'Sheriff of Cimarron,' 'Santa Fe Saddlemates,' 'Bells of Rosarita,' 'Oregon Trail,' and 'Rough Riders of Cheyenne' in 1945. 'Days of Buffalo Bill, ' 'The El Paso Kid,' and 'Rio Grande Renegades' in 1946. By the end of the year, however, he and Republic Pictures were in dispute, and their relationship ended; his career entered a decline. It would be over a year before his next release, a low budget effort from Yucca Productions, 'Fighting Mustang' (1948), quickly followed by 'Deadline' and 'Sunset Carson Rides Again.' 'Battling Marshal,' in 1950, would be his last film for over twenty years. He developed a traveling act, during which he would speak of his movie career and demonstrate trick shooting. In 1972, he shot 'The Marshal of Windy Hollow,' but the film was never released, and in 1977, he appeared in 'Seabo.' In 1983, he received a Golden Boot Award during its initial presentation. He took a guest role in the television series 'Simon & Simon' in 1985, and his last film appearance was later that year in the kitsch feature, 'Alien Outlaw,' after which he retired to Reno, Nevada.
