U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the University of Alabama, in 1885, taught school for several years and was superintendent of education for Choctaw County, Alabama. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law and was solicitor for the Alabama First Judicial Circuit, (1904-10). In 1915, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1919. After serving in Congress, he resumed the practice of law and served as Judge of the Alabama First Judicial Circuit Court. He died at age 70 at his daughter’s home in Louisiana.
