Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He was issued the award on February 7, 1902 for his actions as a private with Company B, 33rd Infantry, US Volunteers, US Army, on December 4, 1899, at Vigan, Luzon, Philippines. His Medal of Honor citation reads: "Discovered a party of insurgents inside a wall, climbed to the top of the wall, covered them with his gun, and forced them to stack arms and surrender."
