M. Catherine Allen, 82, of Woodcrest Villa, Apt. 202, formerly of Elizabethtown and Lancaster, died Wednesday morning at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.

A homemaker, Mrs. Allen was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown, where she was a Sunday school teacher for the kindergarten class, played piano for Sunday school, was a choir member and belonged to United Methodist Women.

She enjoyed flower gardening and playing the piano and playing the piano and organ.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Elsie O. Boyer McCracken.

She was married to Russell D. Allen for 59 years on April 29.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Keith M., husband of Kendace C. Allen of Manheim, and Kent M., husband of Suzanne P. Allen of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; a sisiter, Jean, wife of Stephen Aument Jr. of Lancaster; and two brothers, William, husband of Erla McCracken of Lancaster, and Jerome, husband of Eva McCracken of Leola.

ALLEN - Entered into rest Lancaster, PA on Wednesday October 7, 1998. M. CATHERINE ALLEN, wife of Russell D. Allen, Woodcrest Village, Apt. 202, Lancaster, PA 19601in her 83rd year. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oak and Spruce Streets, Elizabethtown, PA on Saturday October 10, 1998 at 2PM with Rev. James E. Heath officiating. Interment in Mellinger's Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. There will be no viewing. The family will receive frineds at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of service. If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to the Water Street Rescue Mission, 210 South Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 or to the Bethesda Mission, 611 Reilly Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102. Arrangements by Frank S. Miller Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, PA.
