For fourteen seasons (1979 to 1993), he played at the wide-receiver position in the National Football League with the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons. Born Andrew Hill, he attended Newnan High School and played collegiate football at Georgia Tech University. Selected by the Rams during the 12th round of the 1979 NFL Draft, he appeared in 211 career regular season games. During his rookie year, Hill experienced a Super Bowl appearance (Super Bowl XIV in 1980), as he contributed to the Rams' team which captured the 1979 NFC Title. He established himself as one of the most productive receivers during the 1980s and 1990s, exceeding better-than-1,000 yards five-times (1985 with 1,169, 1986 with 1,112, 1988 with 1,141, 1990 with 1,019 and 1991 with 1,109). During his years with Houston (quarterbacked by Warren Moon), Hill formed a highly-successful "run and shoot" offense with Ernest Givins, Haywood Jeffires and Curtis Duncan, as he amassed 634 career receptions with 9,831 yards and 60 touchdowns, achieving Pro-Bowl honors twice (1988 and 1990). Hill led the NFL with 74 receptions in 1990. Following his football career, he became an artist and businessman. He was inducted into the Georgia Tech University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. He died following two strokes.
