Shark Attack Victim. A 28-year old native of Switzerland, former soldier in the Swiss Army and, at the time of his death, Bell Captain at the Essex and Sussex Hotel in Spring Lake, he was the 2nd victim of the infamous "Jersey Maneater Shark Attacks" of 1916. He was attacked by the shark, which bit off both his feet before he was rescued by the hotel shore patrol. He died on the beach from loss of blood and shock.
