U.S. Congressman. After attending Northern Indiana University, he worked in journalism on several Ohio newspapers and was editor of the Columbus Press. During the Spanish-American War, he served as a Sergeant Major in the 4th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, US Army. After the war, he moved to Muskogee Indian Territory Oklahoma, engaged in the newspaper business, was a oil inspector and was a clerk in the Indian agent office. In 1909, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-first Congress, serving until 1911. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was employed in the United States Indian Service and later engaged in oil production until he retired in 1934. He died of emphysema at age 90, at the Muskogee Veterans Administration Hospital.
