US Congressman. He graduated from the Northern Indiana Normal School in 1891, from the law department of the University of Michigan in 1894, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Calumet, Michigan. He was prosecuting attorney for Houghton County and moved to Duluth, Minnesota in 1907. In 1921, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh and Sixty-eighth Congresses, serving until 1925. Deciding not to run for re-election, he resumed the practice of law until his death.
