Some of his memorable roles were in "Dr. Cyclops" (1940), "Wake Island" (1942), "The Killers" (1946), "The Silver Chalice" (1954), "East of Eden" (1955) and "The Wild Bunch" (1969). He also was California State Assemblyman from 1944 to 1946 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
