U.S. Congressman. He became a printer and was editor of the Walpole Political Observatory, in 1805. He was appointed clerk of the court of common pleas of Cheshire County New Hampshire in 1813 and was secretary to the commission appointed under the treaty of Ghent for determining the northeastern boundary line of the United States, in 1814. In 1817, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress, serving until 1819. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was a clerk of the Supreme Court of New Hampshire, a member of the New Hampshire State House of Representatives, (1823, 28, 44) and served in the New Hampshire State Senate, (1824-25, 45-46). After leaving politics, he lived in retirement until his death at age 79.
