Religious Leader. He was a prominent 19th Century Minister, and brother of author Harriet Beecher Stowe. The Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis called him to serve as its first minister. Charles Beecher, his brother, was a musician and established the first church choir in the city. He served as the first organist of the Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis. In 1847, Beecher became the first pastor of the Plymouth Church in Brooklyn, New York. The church was part of the Underground Railroad.
